Our FAQs might help if you have any queries about membership, using the website, our shop, the Resource Centre or submitting articles for our journal, Gwreiddiau.
New members are always welcome. Membership is open to all family historians and those with a general interest in family history. We offer a range of membership options, depending on whether you live in the UK or Overseas. More information is avialable on our How to join page.
Your annual membership subscription to Gwynedd Family History Society includes a number of useful resources and opportunities that are only available to members. Further information is available on our Membership Benefits page.

You can login if you are a paid member of Gwynedd Family History Society and have an email address.
- Click on the “Login” button on the top bar. You will be prompted for an E-mail address and Password.
- E-mail - this is the email address you submitted when you joined the Society NOT your Membership Number
- Password - this is the Password that you setup for your Membership account NOT your Membership Number.
- If you have forgotten your password, please go to “Your Account Dashboard” and click on the “Forgotten your password? Reset it now.” link. Enter the e-mail that you used when joining the Society and press “Reset”. You will receive an e-mail from the website which will give you a temporary password that you can use to login to the site. You can change your password to something unique by using the Change Password link in the "Your Account Dashboard".

A password should:
- be at least 8 characters long
- contain at least one number
- contain at least one upper case character
- contain at least one symbol

If you are already logged in, the “Your Account Dashboard” menu includes the information stored about you and you can change ,certain information here such as password etc. To amend your email address please contact the Membership Secretary., noting your membership number.
- Click on "My Details"
- Amend the details
- Click on "Update Details" to change any of this information.
The membership year runs from the 1st of January to the 31st of December and renewal of membership is due the following January
- If you join during November or December your initial membership payment will be deemed to be for the following year and renewal will not be required for 13/14 months
- Anyone joining between January to October will receive all literature and magazines issued by the Society since the start of that year
- If you do not renew your membership by the 31st of January of the current year, your membership will cease until the subscription is paid
Those members in the UK who do not already pay their membership renewal subscription by bank standing order will receive a reminder letter with the Winter issue of our 'Gwynedd Roots' journal. Included will be a bank standing order form as an option to pay future renewal subscriptions annually in January.
Members may also pay by cheque, Bank Transfer or online by PayPal.

You do not need a PayPal account to use this payment method to pay for membership or to purchase our publications. Chose PayPal as a payment method and when prompted simply scroll below the PayPal log in button and select Pay by Credit or Debit Card.
No. Registering is the first step to becoming a member and paying the membership fee. Registering alone will not provide access to Membership Benefits.
To purchase online, on finding the publication you require, select the number of copies and add to cart. Please pay securely by PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to use this payment method. Simply scroll below the PayPal log in button and select Pay by Credit or Debit Card.
If you prefer to order and pay by cheque, bank transfer or cash, please use the online shop as above and add your contact details, billing and delivery addresses. You will be not be asked to pay online and the Sales Officer will contact you by email and will inform you how to pay for the goods.
If you require items shipped OUTSIDE the United Kingdom, Isle of Man and Channel Islands then please use the online form as above. You will be not be asked to pay online and the Sales Officer will contact you by email with details of the total cost of your order, including delivery p & p charges and will inform you how to pay for the goods. Postage charges for overseas countries are dependent on the destination country and the total weight of the order items. There is a minimum £5 postage charge for overseas sales.

A copy of our publications list is available for download as a pdf. To search the publications list, open the pdf and download to your device. We also provide notes intended to help the non-Welsh reader to identify the family relationships, ages and dates recorded in the Welsh language Memorial Inscriptions that can be purchased in our shop.
As a member, you can ask us to look up names in our publications (up to 6 lookups a year for free) especially if you are looking for a details of graves. Email the Librarian with as much information as possible, including your membership number.
The Resource Centre in Caernarfon is open on every 3rd Saturday afternoon in the month.
We are open to both members and visitors between 2 and 5pm.
When open the Library’s Community room is adapted with tables for research use
Members can borrow up to two books at any one time for a period of three months, the borrower paying postage and packing.
If you are a member and wish to borrow an item please fill in the loan form on your visit to the Resource Centre or login to the Members area and complete the online form with details of the items requested or alternatively email the Librarian.
One of the advantages of being a member of the Gwynedd Family History Society is access to old unwanted certificates that have been donated to the Society by other members. Certificates are listed in the Members' area of the website and they more recently received ones are also listed in "Gwreiddiau".
Please send all articles Word documents and all images in jpg format, ideally in as high a resolution as possible. Please send text and images seperately and NOT as a PDF..

No, we do NOT provide a research service as we are all volunteers here at the GFHS.
What we can provide is suggestions and guidance on how you could continue with your own research, especially if it is specific to the Gwynedd area, Welsh language and culture as we are all fluent Welsh speakers.
